BEAVER
busy | loyal | calm
1867 | 1879 | 1891 | 1903 | 1915 | 1927 | 1939 | 1951 | 1963 | 1975 | 1987 | 1999 | 2011 | 2023 | 2035
Beavers have an unwavering work-ethic and love to be busy, which means love can take a back seat. While they can be counted on to get the job done, they struggle with work-life balance and have a poor memory for dates and important milestones. Moose-beaver bonds run deep and are known for weathering any storm. Beavers are impressed by the tenacity of mosquitos but can’t stomach their irrational impulses. Their lack of fashion sense and inability to trade work for play is a deal-breaker for geese and belugas. Love with muskox is explosive and fraught with tension and disagreement.
BISON
calm | focused | firm
1868 | 1880 | 1892 | 1904 | 1916 | 1928 | 1940 | 1952 | 1964 | 1976 | 1988 | 2000 | 2012 | 2024 | 2036
Bison were once common across the Great Plains and neighbouring woodlands. While not as numerous as they were historically, this keystone species is currently found in a handful of Canadian national parks and in domestic herds in Western Canada. Bison believe whole heartedly in extended family and the importance of tradition. Silently, focused and playful, bison believe many hands make for light work. Strong and level-headed, bison can out-wait just about any situation. Calm is the order of the day, unless family or personal beliefs are challenged. Never, ever make direct eye contact with a bison when they’re hot under the collar.
LYNX
alert | agile | aloof
1869 | 1881 | 1893 | 1905 | 1917 | 1929 | 1941 | 1953 | 1965 | 1977 | 1989 | 2001 | 2013 | 2025 | 2037
Smart, guarded and frugal with words, lynx are known for being aloof. This sign is incredibly selective and doesn’t rush into much, including friendships and relationships. While slow to warm up or proclaim their feelings, lynx value independent thought, self-confidence and have an affinity for the strong silent types. Lynx and lobsters are often best friends. Moose, bison and sasquatches make ideal lovers. Lynx find belugas exhausting, are easily agitated by geese and are least suited for romance with wolves – too much cat and dog.
POLAR BEAR
clever | playful | strong
1870 | 1882 | 1894 | 1906 | 1918 | 1930 | 1942 | 1954 | 1966 | 1978 | 1990 | 2002 | 2014 | 2026 | 2038
Polar bears are a complicated blend of power, intelligence, ambition and will. Their love runs deep and their temper deeper. With the thickest of the thick skin, polar bears take things as they come. Romantic endeavours and long-term friendships with sasquatches, muskox, moose and bison are a healthy mix of joy and debate. Flings with mosquitos and lobsters are intense but short-lived. Their fiery disposition and sharp tongue makes for strained relationships with the all-too-busy beaver, over-the-top geese and wolves.
MOSQUITO
fearless | pesky | thriving
1871 | 1883 | 1895 | 1907 | 1919 | 1931 | 1943 | 1955 | 1967 | 1979 | 1991 | 2003 | 2015 | 2027 | 2039
Mosquitos travel in swarms, aren’t good with details and avoid doing anything alone. They naturally seek friendships with muskox, belugas, geese and other mosquitos. Fear of missing out drives this sign to relentlessly pursue of social engagements, and has a hard time taking no for an answer. Mosquitoes find lynx, moose and lobsters slow, dull and boring, and the scent of muskox drives mosquitoes wild. Pairings with Sasquatches are always a good gamble when it comes to variety and unpredictability.
SASQUATCH
gentle | kind | elusive
1872 | 1884 | 1896 | 1908 | 1920 | 1932 | 1944 | 1956 | 1968 | 1980 | 1992 | 2004 | 2016 | 2028 | 2040
Sasquatches are the epitome of independence. They are comfortable in their own skin and like to disconnect from daily grind. Never a fan of touching base with friends or lovers 10 times a day, Sasquatches gravitate toward focused and pragmatic types, including beavers, polar bears and bison. Sasquatches are incredibly good listeners but need time to recharge after physical exertion or time spent in crowds. Sasquatches find lobsters overly negative, geese insufferable and beavers rigid.
MOOSE
strong | regal | silent
1873 | 1885 | 1897 | 1909 | 1921 | 1933 | 1945 | 1957 | 1969 | 1981 | 1993 | 2005 | 2017 | 2019 | 2041
Reserved and confident, moose demand respect in friendships and romantic unions. Moose aren’t overly expressive, but given the chance, they will quietly go out of their way to do something nice for those closest to them. Moose like to pal around with lynx and Sasquatches because there’s no need for idle chit-chat. Love is tender and warm with muskox and beavers. Belugas make great and unusual lovers as moose prefer to take a back-seat to their significant others. It’s sure to end in an unsuccessful fate with muskox and beavers due to persistent petty disagreements that frequently grow into raging arguments. Romantic success with geese is even less likely as geese come with hidden agendas and press all the wrong buttons all at once.
LOBSTER
crusty | blunt | mature
1874 | 1886 | 1898 | 1910 | 1922 | 1934 | 1946 | 1958 | 1970 | 1982 | 1994 | 2006 | 2018 | 2030 | 2042
Lobsters lead an honest and uncomplicated existence that favour quality in relationships over quantity. Rarely will a lobster apologize for its behaviour, even when wrong. What you see is what you get. Lobsters don’t like to show their feelings and talk about them even less. They get along outrageously well with other lobsters, confide in lynx and enjoy the company of moose and beavers. They have intense arguments with bison and muskox and can’t stomach the neediness of belugas and garish geese.
CANADA GOOSE
loud | stylish | bold
1875 | 1887 | 1899 | 1911 | 1923 | 1935 | 1947 | 1959 | 1971 | 1983 | 1995 | 2007 | 2019 | 2031 | 2043
Like many Canadians, Canada geese like to winter in the south. In summer, they can be found in nearly every part of Canada. Stylish, verbose and intoxicatingly self-absorbed, Canada geese are the prima donnas of the Canadian Zodiac. Loud, rude and unable to read social cues, Canada geese will eat you out of house-and-home, leaving everyone else to clean up the mess.
What’s good for the goose isn’t always good for the gander. Geese are all about themselves. They are indiscriminate friends and lovers with a propensity for hooking up with anyone willing to put up with their antics. Geese need to have their egos stroked, have high standards for others but not of themselves. Needing to be the centre of attention at all times, they seek out beautiful people, but not more eye-catching than they are. They go best with other geese, mosquitos, sasquatches and the occasional lobster. It’s nearly always tense and love-on-the rocks with lynx, moose, beavers, muskox and polar bears.
MUSKOX
nomad | warm | tough
1876 | 1888 | 1900 | 1912 | 1924 | 1936 | 1948 | 1960 | 1972 | 1984 | 1996 | 2008 | 2020 | 2032 | 2044
Muskox have a hard exterior that’s hard to crack. Its poker-face is its greatest defense mechanism, but that doesn’t mean there’s not a big softie inside. Muskox find great comfort in saddling up to their own sign, whether for friendship or romance. Polar bears make for lifelong buddies, and love is electric with belugas and mosquitos. Heartache and stomach aches abound with beavers, geese, lobsters and moose.
WOLF
leader | devoted | noble
1877 | 1889 | 1901 | 1913 | 1925 | 1937 | 1949 | 1961 | 1973 | 1985 | 1997 | 2009 | 2021 | 2033 | 2045
The wolf is a loyal friend lover who forgives and is willing to forget. While kind, resourceful and handy with tools, wolves can be particular and even needy. With the exception of the odd lone wolf, this sign finds comfort in groups, provided there’s no drama. Wolves have no difficulty drawing a line in the sand and will quickly nip brewing negativity in the bud. Wolves should avoid romantic endeavours with lynx, moose, mosquitos and especially geese. Wolves are an excellent match with other wolves, beavers and bison.
BELUGA
social | curious | chatty
1878 | 1890 | 1902 | 1914 | 1926 | 1938 | 1950 | 1962 | 1974 | 1986 | 1998 | 2010 | 2022 | 2034 | 2046
Beluga whales are the social butterflies of the Arctic Ocean, the Saint Lawrence Seaway and Hudson’s Bay. An incessant talker who flitters from one subject to another, the beluga whale is all smiles and exudes joy. Popular and loveable, this gregarious creature doesn’t like long awkward silences or spending time alone.
Belugas are great talkers but struggle with listening. They love to be loved and showered with gifts and attention. Friendships and partners abound with other belugas, muskox (when not in disagreement mode) and the all-accommodating sasquatch. Romance with lynx is ill advised because they need too much space. Lobsters are off the roster because belugas are too easily offended and won’t get the validation they require. Romance with geese is even less likely because of their all-absorbed egocentric nature and their inability to pay someone else a compliment.
